Constructing the eLTER Research Infrastructure
eLTER´s development is driven by the needs of the European LTER Community among other users. It capitalises on the site network of LTER-Europe.
Several projects support the implementation of initial services and the physical network design.
eLTER RI was put on the priority list of European Research Infrastructures (ESFRI Roadmap).
eLTER’s basic architecture
eLTER Central Services range from data integration and analyses to syntheses towards actionable knowledge. They are provided by Topic Centres and the Head Office.
eLTER’s physical network consists of ~250 research sites and platforms operated by institutions across ~20 countries. It represents major European environmental and socio-ecological conditions.
The eLTER Service Portal serves as single access point to all information, services, and virtual and physical access opportunities.
