eLTER Service Portfolio is making great strides

2024 saw significant progress with developing eLTER’s Service Portfolio. A call for Expressions of Interest (EoIs) for hosting eLTER Services yielded 22 EoIs from different institutions in 14 countries, confirming the strong interest from the directorates of many renowned institutions across Europe in contributing to the eLTER RI. 95% of eLTER’s core and other services are now covered, an excellent basis for the ongoing co-design process of the services. Several services are already available and many others are under development. 

One available service is eLTER’s Market Place, a free online platform that connects researchers looking for data with eLTER Site and Platform Coordinators who can offer a wealth of long-term observation data from their Sites and Platforms. A recent eLTER data call to mobilise Site Legacy Data published on the Market Place has been greeted with overwhelming interest by Site and Platform Coordinators, which is a great start to mobilising and sharing eLTER data.
