Kilpisjärvi Biological Station (LTER Finland) Celebrated its 60th Anniversary

Kilpisjärvi Biological Station of the University of Helsinki celebrated its 60th anniversary in September with a weekend event that reflected on its historical significance and future directions in Arctic research. The event included a seminar with experts discussing various topics such as changes in local fish populations, the effects of Arctic warming, and the station's pivotal role in environmental studies. Over 150 visitors participated in the open house, where they explored the station's activities and met with researchers. A special focus was given to collaborative projects, including those in climate change and ecosystem monitoring.
