eLTER's New Cyberinfrastructure Team

12 December 2024

The new eLTER Cyberinfrastructure (CI) Development Team was formed in March 2024 and began it's work with the first agile development sprints in April. Important tasks included the consolidation and relaunch of the technical architecture, the set-up of a new IT base infrastructure, the migration of existing services to new environments and the preparation of support for the eLTER Data Call 2024 to mobilise legacy standard observation data.

In order to meet the requirements of the developing European and global data infrastructures, networking meetings were organised and processes for possible cooperation at the technical level were initiated.

The distributed team with contributors from the major eLTER projects PLUS, PPP and EnRich follows the recommendations of the Scrum framework and has recently closed the 12th CI Sprint. The challenges for the next year are the transition of the deployed CI components from development to a semi-productive state and the ongoing integration of internal and external data sources and systems to allow a smooth user experience while supporting all eLTER RI services with the necessary data management tools according to the FAIR principles.
